Why does the engine stall at idle?

Toyota owners from time to time can face a very common but unpleasant problem: their car engine stalls. The phenomenon is not related to whether it has warmed up or not, and can happen at idle, on the move, and even on a well-warmed engine. Experts identify a wide range of reasons that can initiate this. Identifying them can be tricky due to the complex electronics in today's Toyota models.

Idle speed

Failure of the idle sensor, which needs to be replaced;

Clogged throttle valve that needs to be cleaned;

The throttle position sensor is broken and needs to be replaced.

On the run

The spark plugs are out of order, you need to replace them;

The fuel filter is clogged, needs to be replaced;

The air filter is clogged, needs to be replaced;

Fuel pump malfunction, it needs to be repaired or replaced;

The battery terminals are oxidized, you can clean them or replace the entire battery;

The generator does not charge;

Electronic sensors or modules are out of order.

The engine is well warmed up
