In 2006, Toyota Motor Corporation released the sixth generation of the Toyota Camry business class car. The car is based on a new design philosophy of Vibrant Clarity and advanced power plant technology HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive), available in R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5. Cars are equipped with two gasoline engines located across the engine compartment: on the R1-R4 configuration, a four-cylinder inline engine with a working volume of 2.4 liters and 167 h.p. is installed, and on the R5 configuration, a six-cylinder V6 with a working volume of 3.5 liters, with a capacity of 277 liters .s., with the Dual VVT-i system.

The 2006 model car, in comparison with its predecessors, uses a completely new air conditioning system based on plasma ionization technology, with the help of which positive and negative ions are generated in the air, destroying dust and harmful particles. In addition, some of the control functions for the air conditioning system are located on the multifunction steering wheel.

Front suspension type McPherson, independent, spring, with anti-roll bar, with hydraulic shock-absorber struts. The rear suspension is independent, spring, multi-link, with anti-roll bar, with hydraulic shock-absorber struts.

The steering is traumatic, with a gear-rack type steering mechanism, equipped with a hydraulic booster. The steering column is tilt adjustable. A front airbag is installed in the steering wheel hub (as well as in front of the front passenger).
