1. Wiring and contacts
⚠️ Oxidation of contacts - in headlights, ignition switches, relays and fuse box due to moisture and aging.
⚡ Broken wires in the doors - especially in the corrugation of the driver's door (problems with the central locking, window lifters).
🔧 Wear of the fuse box - the contacts overheat, burn out, which can cause problems with the lighting and fans.
Solution:
✔️ Cleaning the contacts and treating with WD-40, contact 61.
✔️ Replacing the wiring in the doors at the first signs of a break.
✔️ Installing an additional relay for powerful consumers.
2. Lighting problems
💡 Burnout of low beam lamps - due to power surges or poor contact.
🚨 Rear side lights/brake lights don't work - often the culprit is a poor contact in the rear lights.
Solution:
✔️ Check the ground and contacts, especially in the rear lights.
✔️ Use high-quality Osram, Philips lamps.
3. Sensors and ECU errors
🔍 Faulty MAF (mass air flow sensor) - the engine is troit, loss of power.
🚗 Throttle position sensor (TPS) - unstable speed, dips during acceleration.
🔥 Lambda probe (oxygen sensor) - increased fuel consumption, errors P0130, P0420.
🛑 ABS sensor - a common cause of ABS OFF errors on the dashboard.
Solution:
✔️ Cleaning the MAF sensor (with a special cleaner).
✔️ Checking and replacing the TPS when the engine speed fluctuates.
✔️ Diagnostics with an OBD-II scanner before replacing the sensors.
4. Generator and battery
⚡ Weak generator charge - voltage drops below 13.5 V, especially in winter.
🔋 Rapid battery discharge - current leaks due to old wiring, problems with the generator diode bridge.
Solution:
✔️ Checking the generator and replacing the voltage regulator.
✔️ Diagnostics of current leaks (normal up to 0.05 A at rest).
✔️ Using a 55Ah battery with a high starting current.
