1️⃣ FA20 Engine – Oil Consumption
📌 Problem:
The FA20 engine is prone to increased oil consumption.
This is especially common on models before 2015.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ Use high-quality oil (5W-30 or 0W-20) and change it every 5,000-7,000 km.
✔️ Check the oil level regularly and top up if necessary.
✔️ Installing an improved oil catch can (Oil Catch Can) helps reduce deposits.
2️⃣ Connecting rods break during tuning
📌 Problem:
Stock engine connecting rods cannot withstand a significant increase in power (turbocharging, compressor).
If 350 hp is exceeded, the bearings may turn and the engine may be destroyed.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ When increasing power, replace connecting rods and pistons with forged ones.
✔️ Monitor fuel quality (not lower than 98th).
✔️ Do not exceed the safe speed limit (7000-7500 rpm).
3️⃣ Weak clutch on manual transmission
📌 Problem:
The standard clutch wears out faster with aggressive driving.
Especially when starting from a standstill and track use.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ When worn, install a reinforced clutch (Exedy, ACT, Clutch Masters).
✔️ Avoid frequent starts at high speeds.
4️⃣ Transmission noise
📌 Problem:
Manual transmission (6-speed) may hum when cold.
Gears may engage with a crunch.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ Use high-quality oil in the gearbox (Motul, Red Line, Subaru Extra-S).
✔️ Warm up the transmission before active driving.
5️⃣ Squeaking and noise in the suspension
📌 Problem:
Squeaking in the front suspension and steering rack.
Rear shock absorbers may knock.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ Lubrication of silent blocks and checking of stabilizer struts.
✔️ If there is knocking, replace the shock absorbers with KYB, Tein or Bilstein.
6️⃣ Hard and noisy interior
📌 Problem:
Plastic in the interior may creak and rattle.
Poor soundproofing – street noise can be heard even at low speeds.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ Dismantling and gluing the interior with soundproofing (STP, SGM, Comfort Mat).
✔️ Strengthening the fastenings of plastic panels.
7️⃣ Condensation in the rear lights
📌 Problem:
Condensation often accumulates in the rear lights.
🔧 Solution:
✔️ Installing ventilation holes.
✔️ In case of severe fogging – dismantling and sealing the headlight.
