Subaru Legacy V 2009-2014 Main problems with wiring, electrical, sensors
1. Electrical wiring problems
Oxidation of contacts and connectors - especially in regions with high humidity and in winter due to reagents on the roads.
Chafing of wiring harnesses - especially in the area of door openings and the engine compartment.
2. Sensor problems
Throttle position sensor (TPS) - can cause unstable engine operation and reduced traction.
ABS and ESP sensors - often fail due to contamination or damage to the wiring.
Coolant temperature sensor - sometimes gives incorrect readings, which can lead to engine overheating.
Lambda probes (oxygen sensors) - often burn out after 100,000 km, causing the Check Engine error.
3. Generator and battery problems
Failure of the generator diode bridge - can lead to poor battery charging.
Increased battery discharge – often due to current leaks (incorrect operation of the alarm, multimedia and other systems).
4. Starter malfunctions
Failure of the solenoid relay – the starter clicks, but does not turn.
Wear of the starter brushes – manifests itself in difficult engine starting.
5. Electronics problems
Failure of the CVT control unit (variator) – can lead to jolts when shifting.
Errors in the engine control unit (ECU) – sometimes caused by bad grounds or sensor failure.
Glitchy multimedia (radio) – can freeze or spontaneously turn off.
